Mohamed Salah targets victory after record-breaking Trabzonspor welcome

Mohamed Salah has begun his Trabzonspor career with a spectacular unveiling in front of more than 30,000 supporters at Papara Park, where fans repeatedly chanted the name of the Egypt captain during a historic presentation.

The Turkish club marked the arrival of the Egyptian football icon with a ceremony unlike anything previously seen at the stadium. Salah appeared on the pitch wearing Trabzonspor’s number 10 shirt alongside club president Ertugrul Dogan, formally opening a new chapter for both player and club.

Salah said he was overwhelmed by the reception and wished he had been able to express his feelings in Turkish.

“Hello everyone. I wish I could speak Turkish to describe what I feel, but please allow me to express it like this,” the forward said.

He went on to thank the supporters for the welcome they had given him both before and during the presentation.

“What I see today, I have never seen before in my life. The love you showed me yesterday and today was huge. Thank you all from my heart. I am extremely happy to be here, and my goal is clear: to win. I am very excited to start training and play matches in the Trabzonspor shirt,” Salah said.

The Egypt captain ended his address by summing up the scale of the occasion.

“I have never seen anything like this before,” Salah said, before saluting the crowd.

The ceremony represented the official start of Salah’s Trabzonspor journey, with supporters now expecting the club’s most high-profile new arrival to make a significant contribution on the pitch. His presentation at Papara Park provided a dramatic opening to a two-season spell that will continue through the summer of 2028.
