Mohamed Salah has set his sights on winning another Premier League title with Liverpool after leading his side to a crucial victory over Manchester City.
The Reds extended their lead at the top of the table to 11 points with the win, reinforcing their position as title favourites with just 11 games remaining.
Salah, in outstanding form, opened the scoring at the Etihad Stadium after just 15 minutes, marking his eighth consecutive game with a goal.
His early strike set the tone for Liverpool’s dominant display, with Dominik Szoboszlai doubling the advantage in the 37th minute to secure a commanding 2-0 victory over the reigning champions.
Salah: “We need another title”
Speaking after the match, Salah acknowledged the significance of beating City on their own turf, describing the win as a powerful statement in the title race.
It’s unbelievable, he said. Winning at City is always special, especially when you’re in the title race.
Despite Liverpool’s strong position, Salah remains focused and insists the team must stay composed as they push towards another league triumph.
We need another title. Me and the experienced players in the team, we need another title, he added, underlining his determination to add to Liverpool’s 2019-20 Premier League triumph.
The Egyptian forward also reflected on his role within the squad, particularly in guiding younger players.
When asked if he feels better than in previous seasons, he responded: “People will always have opinions, but I prefer this period because it’s about winning the league and helping the young players.
Szoboszlai praises Liverpool’s game management
Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, who scored Liverpool’s second goal, credited the team’s tactical discipline in securing the victory.
We played with two number 10s, and they controlled 90 per cent of the game, but in the end, the result is ours and we are happy to get the three points, Szoboszlai said.
He acknowledged that while Liverpool had to defend deep at times, securing the win was the top priority.
Sometimes you have to sit back, but the most important thing is getting the three points,” he added.
Liverpool in pole position for the title
With their latest win, Liverpool has taken a firm grip on the Premier League title race.
While City remain in contention, the gap at the top leaves Jurgen Klopp’s side in a commanding position.
As the season enters its final stretch, Salah’s hunger for another title and Liverpool’s collective determination could prove decisive in their pursuit of domestic glory.
