Egyptian star, Mohammed Salah starred with a brace and two assists on Sunday evening as he led Liverpool to hammer Tottenham Hotspur 6-3 in the English Premier League.
The win not only extended Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table to four points over Chelsea but also highlighted the team’s attacking brilliance as the festive season approaches.
The match at Anfield was a showcase of relentless offensive firepower, led by the indomitable Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz. Both players found the back of the net twice, with Salah’s contributions earning him yet another place in Premier League history.
The Egyptian superstar became the first player in the league to achieve double figures in both goals and assists before Christmas, with an impressive tally of 13 goals and 10 assists. His performance also saw him surpass Liverpool legend Billy Liddell in the club’s all-time scoring charts, reaching 229 goals in the iconic red jersey.
Liverpool wasted no time asserting their dominance. The scoring opened in the 23rd minute when Luis Díaz capitalized on a perfect cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold, heading the ball into the net to give the Reds an early lead. Just 13 minutes later, Alexis Mac Allister doubled the advantage with a brilliant header into the top corner.
Tottenham, determined to stay in the game, found a response in the 41st minute. James Maddison struck a stunning effort from outside the box, reducing the deficit and giving the Spurs faithful hope. However, Liverpool restored their two-goal cushion just before halftime. Salah, showcasing his playmaking abilities, set up Dominik Szoboszlai, who calmly slotted the ball home to make it 3-1.
The second half saw Salah truly come into his own. In the 54th minute, he was the quickest to react to a rebound, stabbing the ball into the net to extend Liverpool’s lead to 4-1. Salah struck again just seven minutes later, capping off a fluid team move and reaffirming his status as one of the league’s most lethal attackers.
Tottenham showed resilience, narrowing the gap in the 72nd minute through Dejan Kulusevski. Despite their efforts, the Reds continued to press forward, and Díaz completed his brace in the 85th minute with a clinical finish, once again assisted by Salah.
Liverpool’s emphatic victory sends a strong message to their title rivals. With Salah and Díaz leading the charge, supported by the creativity of Alexander-Arnold and the tenacity of Mac Allister, the Reds are proving to be a formidable force in this season’s title race.
