Mohamed Salah’s quest for European scoring glory has hit a hurdle.
The Liverpool star, who had been leading the Golden Boot race for much of the 2024/2025 season, now finds himself trailing Portugal’s red-hot striker Victor Gyokeres.
Victor Gyokeres, with an astonishing 38 goals for Sporting Lisbon, sits on top of the standings with 57 points. Salah follows closely behind with 28 goals and 56 points, his consistency for Liverpool keeping him in the conversation but now second-best.
Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe isn’t far behind with 27 goals, while Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski have both netted 25 times.
Further down, Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak remain in the hunt. Meanwhile, Erling Haaland, Omar Marmoush, and others like Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy are in the mix, but their chances are narrowing as the season winds down.
The race is heating up, but Salah now has work to do to reclaim the crown.
