Mohamed Salah is set to miss at least three Premier League matches for Liverpool during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), including a key encounter away at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Egyptian forward, who finished as the league’s top scorer in the 2024/25 season with 29 goals, will join up with Egypt for the continental showpiece in Morocco, which runs from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

His prolific form was instrumental in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign last season, and his absence will be keenly felt as the Reds seek to defend their crown.

Egypt open their AFCON campaign against Zimbabwe on December 22, ruling Salah out of Liverpool’s fixtures against Spurs (A), Wolves (H), and Leeds United (H).

The number of games he could miss may increase, depending on how far Egypt progress in the tournament.

Given the strength of the Egyptian side, there is strong expectation they will reach the latter stages. If that happens, Salah could miss up to six league matches in total, with additional fixtures against Fulham (A), Arsenal (A), and Burnley (H) also falling within the AFCON schedule.

The clashes against Tottenham and Arsenal, both away, stand out as critical in the context of the title race.
