Mohamed Salah scores and creates as Trabzonspor return to winning ways with five-goal rout
Trabzonspor responded to back-to-back defeats by producing a commanding 5-0 victory over Genclerbirligi at home on Sunday, with Mohamed Salah scoring one goal and creating another in the Turkish league.
The hosts took control after only five minutes when Paul Onuachu opened the scoring. Trabzonspor continued to press and doubled their advantage in the 14th minute, Salah converting from the penalty spot.
Onuachu struck again eight minutes later to complete his brace and put Trabzonspor 3-0 ahead before half-time.
Salah then turned provider in the 59th minute, setting up the fourth goal. Ernest Muci finished the move to extend the home side’s lead, before Frankolino completed the scoring in the 78th minute.
The result moved Trabzonspor up to fourth place with seven points. Genclerbirligi have the same tally but sit sixth in the table.
Trabzonspor had entered the match looking to halt a difficult run of results. They had lost their previous two matches in all competitions, going down 4-0 to Ferencvarosi in the second leg of their Europa League qualifying tie before suffering a 2-1 defeat by Amedspor in the Turkish league.
The emphatic victory therefore restored confidence for Trabzonspor, who made the most of their home advantage and quickly established a decisive lead. Salah’s contribution was central to the result, with his penalty adding to the early pressure before his assist helped produce the fourth goal.
Video footage shared from the match showed Salah converting the second goal for Trabzonspor from the penalty spot against Genclerbirligi. Another clip highlighted his involvement in the fourth, with Muci turning the Egyptian forward’s pass into a goal.
The match was also discussed on Kooora forums, where supporters could debate the result and the latest football news in greater depth.
