Mohamed Salah’s frustration grows after Arne Slot explains bench role in turbulent Liverpool draw

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker says he plans to speak privately with Mohamed Salah about the winger’s explosive recent comments, but believes the Egyptian’s exclusion from the Inter Milan squad is a “natural” outcome of what he said.

Salah had accused the club of mistreating him after being left out of the starting lineup in three straight games and claimed his relationship with coach Arne Slot had collapsed, remarks that dominated the build-up to the crucial Champions League tie.

Alisson described Salah as “a great person” and a true Liverpool legend, stressing their long friendship from Roma and then eight seasons together at Anfield, but admitted he was not happy with the situation and insisted the team must stay fully focused on the challenge of facing an in-form Inter.

He explained that Salah’s absence is simply the consequence of his own decisions and that the forward is smart enough to understand that, adding that he will talk to him as a friend, but that conversation will remain private.

The Brazilian underlined that the squad remains united despite differing feelings about the controversy, arguing that personal emotions matter less than responding on the pitch.

He agreed with Slot’s handling of the “thrown under the bus” remark, said only Salah can explain exactly what he meant, and made clear that while the 32-year-old has every right to express himself, “you also have to live with the consequences of your opinion”, insisting the priority is what is best for Liverpool as a club.
