Egyptian international and Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is in mourning following the death of his grandfather, Ahmed Abdel Aziz Al Bambi, who passed away on Monday morning, according to reports from the local press.
The sad news was confirmed by Abdel Aziz Al Bambi, the son of the deceased and Mohamed Salah’s uncle, who also serves as chairman of the board of directors of the Mohamed Salah Youth Center.
He expressed deep sorrow over the loss and called on the public to pray for mercy and forgiveness for the late Ahmed Abdel Aziz Al Bambi.
Funeral prayers are scheduled to be held at the Grand Mosque of Musa in the village of Nagrig, where residents and members of the local community are expected to gather to pay their respects. Burial will take place immediately after the prayers.
At the time of reporting, it remains unclear whether Mohamed Salah will be able to attend the funeral, having featured for Liverpool in their English Premier League match against Manchester City on Sunday night.
