Mohamed Salah makes late impact on Trabzonspor debut in Kasımpasa draw

Trabzonspor began their Turkish Super Lig campaign with a 1-1 draw at Kasımpasa on Saturday, as Mohamed Salah made his first appearance for the club after joining this summer.

Salah started the match on the substitutes’ bench and was introduced in the 58th minute, replacing team-mate Metehan Mimaroglu. Although he was unable to find the net, the Egypt international immediately added an attacking threat after coming on.

Trabzonspor took the lead shortly before half-time when Saviolo produced an excellent finish in the 43rd minute. His effort flew into the home side’s net to give the visitors an advantage at the break.

Kasımpasa responded after the interval and were awarded a penalty. Adrian Benedyczak took responsibility from the spot and converted in the 55th minute to bring the hosts level.

The equaliser came three minutes before Salah entered the game, but the former Liverpool forward quickly became involved in Trabzonspor’s efforts to regain the lead. In the 70th minute, he delivered a dangerous cross that almost created a second goal for the visitors.

Salah then had an opportunity to score himself seven minutes later. The Egyptian struck the ball powerfully, but his effort went narrowly wide of the post.

Despite Salah’s promising introduction, neither side could find a winning goal during the closing stages. Trabzonspor therefore had to settle for a point from their opening league fixture, while Kasımpasa also began the campaign with a draw.

The match marked Salah’s first competitive outing for Trabzonspor following his summer move. His contribution from the bench included a dangerous delivery and a clear shooting chance, although he could not turn either moment into a decisive goal.

Trabzonspor had appeared to be on course for victory after Saviolo’s first-half strike, but Benedyczak’s penalty restored parity soon after the restart. The visitors were unable to reclaim their lead, even after Salah’s arrival gave them greater attacking impetus.

The 1-1 result means Trabzonspor leave Kasımpasa with one point from their first match of the Turkish Super Lig season. Their next fixtures will provide further opportunities for Salah to build his involvement with the team after making his club debut as a second-half substitute.
