Mohamed Salah makes first Trabzon appearance as Kasimpasa hold on for 1-1 draw

Mohamed Salah came off the bench for his first appearance with Trabzon, but could not find the decisive touch as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Kasimpasa in the opening round of the Turkish league.

Salah began the match among Trabzon’s substitutes before entering in the second half. The Egypt international had several opportunities after his introduction, including one particularly notable miss late in the game, but neither side could find a winning goal.

Trabzon took the lead six minutes before half-time through Noah Saviolo. The forward’s goal gave his team an advantage at the break after an opening period in which Salah remained on the bench.

Salah was seen warming up in the 36th minute, signalling that his introduction could be imminent. He did not enter before half-time, however, and Trabzon went into the interval ahead.

The second half began with Trabzon still in front, but Kasimpasa were awarded a penalty in the 54th minute. Two minutes later, they converted the opportunity to bring the score level at 1-1.

Salah was brought on in the 58th minute, making his first appearance for Trabzon. His arrival added an attacking threat, and he was soon involved in a series of chances.

In the 65th minute, Salah missed an opportunity to restore Trabzon’s lead. Three minutes later, another chance went begging after a cross from Salah, with the resulting effort failing to find the net.

The Egypt international then had the clearest opportunity of the closing stages in the 77th minute. After a cross from the left, Salah missed from close range in unusual fashion, allowing Kasimpasa to preserve their draw.

The final whistle confirmed a 1-1 scoreline, with Trabzon having to settle for a point in their opening Turkish league fixture. Salah’s first match for the club therefore ended without a goal, despite his involvement in several second-half attacking moments.
