Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain, with fresh reports suggesting a potential return to Serie A.
The Egyptian forward has been linked with Inter Milan, sparking speculation that he could embark on a third spell in Italian football.
Inter Milan emerging as a potential destination
Salah’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire in June 2025, and while the Premier League club is keen on extending his stay, Italian sources, including El Nacional, report that the winger is exploring the possibility of a move to Inter Milan.
Discussions have reportedly begun between Salah’s representatives and the Nerazzurri management, with negotiations possibly progressing towards an agreement for next season.
This is not the first time such rumors have surfaced. In November 2024, Salah was also linked with a switch to Serie A, with Inter among the clubs said to be monitoring his situation.
However, Liverpool remained firm in their stance, hoping to retain their star forward.
Now, with his contract winding down, the prospect of Salah leaving Anfield is becoming more plausible.
A familiar league for Salah
Should Salah opt for a move to Inter, he would be returning to a league where he previously thrived.
The 32-year-old has already played in Serie A, first with Fiorentina on loan in 2015, before securing a permanent switch to AS Roma, where he developed into one of Europe’s most dangerous attackers.
During his time in Italy, Salah featured in 81 league matches, scoring 35 goals and providing 22 assists, solidifying his reputation before making the high-profile switch to Liverpool in 2017.
Under Jürgen Klopp, he has since evolved into one of the world’s elite forwards, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and multiple Golden Boots.
Liverpool’s position and Inter’s ambitions
Liverpool remains determined to extend Salah’s contract, but their resolve could be tested if Inter formalizes an offer.
Given his consistent performances—30 goals and 22 assists in all competitions this season—he remains one of the most valuable attacking assets in world football.
For Inter, securing Salah—potentially on a free transfer next summer—would be an exceptional deal.
The Italian champions are looking to strengthen their squad as they continue their dominance in domestic competitions while competing in the Champions League.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Salah’s future will likely become clearer in the coming months.
Will he remain at Liverpool, or will Serie A witness the return of one of its former stars?
