Mohamed Salah confronted with unexpected Trabzonspor plea during Greek holiday

Mohamed Salah was approached by a fan asking him to join Trabzonspor while the former Liverpool forward was on holiday in Greece, as reports in Turkey continue to link him with a move to the club.

A video circulating online appears to show Salah walking along the Greek coastline when a supporter makes the request. The Egypt international does not respond and instead continues walking away from the encounter.

Several Turkish reports claim Salah is now close to joining Trabzonspor on a free transfer, with a two-year contract reportedly under discussion. However, the player has not publicly confirmed the proposed move, and the video itself does not provide any indication of his plans.

One reported condition of the prospective agreement is that Salah would receive 20% of the revenue from sales of products bearing his name. That clause was reportedly among the issues that delayed his proposed transfer to Besiktas in recent weeks, despite the two parties having reached agreement over most of the contract.

Salah’s future has been the subject of considerable uncertainty in the latest period. His name was initially associated with a move to Besiktas, but negotiations became more complicated as discussions progressed.

The Saudi Arabian federation then made an offer for the Egyptian forward, according to the reports. Salah is said to have preferred a move to Turkey instead, with Trabzonspor subsequently emerging as the club closest to securing his services.

If the transfer goes through, Trabzonspor would become the seventh club represented by Salah during his professional career. He began with Egyptian side Al Mokawloon Al Arab before moving to Switzerland to join FC Basel.

His career then took him to Italy, where he played for Fiorentina and Roma, before returning to England with Chelsea. Salah later joined Liverpool, where he established himself as one of the leading forwards of his generation.

The reports do not state when the proposed Trabzonspor agreement would be completed. For now, the only public development is the holiday encounter in Greece, in which Salah chose not to answer the supporter’s appeal.

The reported 20% share of revenue from merchandise carrying his name is understood to remain a significant part of the negotiations. It was previously cited as one of the reasons talks with Besiktas did not reach a conclusion, even though most other contractual details had reportedly been settled.

Salah’s next club therefore remains dependent on the outcome of discussions in Turkey. Trabzonspor are the latest side to be linked with him after the failed progress of the Besiktas talks and the reported approach from Saudi Arabia.
