Mohamed Salah banned from driving for six months over Cheshire speeding offence

Mohamed Salah has been banned from driving for six months and fined £1,044 after failing to identify who was driving his Rolls-Royce when it was caught speeding in Cheshire.

The former Liverpool forward was recorded by an automatic camera travelling at 58 km/h (36 mph) on a section of road in Wilmslow with a 48 km/h (30 mph) limit on 27 March, according to court documents.

Salah did not respond to a summons issued by Cheshire Police and did not enter a guilty plea. A court spokesperson said the 34-year-old was dealt with at Warrington court under a single-justice procedure, which involves hearings being held in private.

He was found guilty of refusing to provide information that could have identified the driver of the Rolls-Royce. The court imposed a six-month driving suspension and the £1,044 fine.

Salah was captain of the Egypt national team at the time of the offence. The speeding case emerged only days after Liverpool announced that the forward would leave the club at the end of the 2025-2026 season, bringing his nine-year spell at Anfield to a close.

Liverpool announced Salah’s departure on 24 March, describing him as a player who had “firmly established himself as one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history”.

He scored 257 goals in 442 appearances for the Reds before joining Turkish club Trabzonspor after the 2025-2026 season.
