Trabzonspor secured a valuable 3-0 away victory over Samsunspor on Saturday to move third in the Turkish Super Lig, with Mohamed Salah contributing an assist despite missing an unusual opportunity in the first half.
The match remained goalless until the 27th minute, when Ernest Muci put the visitors ahead. Trabzonspor doubled their advantage 11 minutes later as Chibuike Nwoye found the net.
Salah then came close to adding a third. The Egyptian forward reacted first after Samsunspor’s goalkeeper had saved an attempt, but his follow-up struck a Samsunspor player and deflected over the crossbar.
The 34-year-old did make his mark shortly afterwards, setting up Trabzonspor’s third goal for Frankolino in the 40th minute.
Trabzonspor were reduced to 10 players just before half-time when referee sent off Melih Kabasakal, with the red card shown two minutes before the interval.
Despite playing with a numerical disadvantage for the entire second half, Trabzonspor protected their lead and completed a convincing away win.
The result takes Trabzonspor to 13 points from seven matches, leaving them third in the table. Samsunspor remain on four points in 16th place.
Footage shared by beIN SPORTS Turkiye showed Salah’s effort being blocked after Logi Tomasson made a crucial intervention.
