Mohamed Salah addresses Liverpool contract uncertainty

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has admitted that negotiations over a new contract remain unresolved, with his current deal set to expire in the summer.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, the Egyptian star insists he is focused on enjoying the remainder of the season and aiming to secure a second Premier League title with the club.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Salah was candid about the ongoing situation.

For now, yes, it’s the last six months,” he said when asked if his time at Anfield might be coming to an end.

While acknowledging the lack of progress in talks, Salah emphasized he is not letting it affect his mindset.

I think about it like, ‘OK, if this is my last season here, what do you want to see in the future?’ I want to be able to look back and say I had an incredible season, not that I was stressed about my contract.

Salah’s contract discussions have been a long-running narrative, mirroring similar situations faced by teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Despite numerous updates, an agreement with the club appears elusive.

With his agent, Ramy Abbas, reportedly expected to attend Liverpool’s upcoming match against Manchester United, speculation about Salah’s next steps continues to grow.

The 31-year-old has had a remarkable season so far, with 17 goals and 13 assists to his name.

His achievements at Liverpool include every major club honor except the Europa League, and he played a pivotal role in ending the club’s 30-year league title drought in 2020.

However, Salah reflects on that triumph with a hint of regret, as Covid-19 restrictions prevented fans from celebrating alongside the team.

With Liverpool currently six points clear at the top of the Premier League table and a game in hand, Salah is determined to make this season unforgettable.

In my interviews over the last seven or eight years, I always said I wanted the Champions League,” he said. “But for the first time, I really want to win the Premier League with Liverpool.

Maybe because we couldn’t celebrate the last title the way we wanted because of the restrictions, and it’s also my last year here, so I want to do something special for the city.

As Salah approaches what could be his final months at Anfield, his focus remains on delivering success for Liverpool and leaving an indelible mark on the club and its supporters.

Whether his journey continues beyond this season or concludes in the summer, Salah’s contributions to Liverpool’s modern era are already etched in history.
