Mohamed Ramadan has spoken out on a series of critical calls made during his time as Al Ahly’s sporting director, including a major move involving star forward Wissam Abu Ali.
According to Ramadan, Al Ahly turned down a $6 million offer from Major League Soccer for the Palestinian striker, deciding instead to keep him to aid their push for the African Champions League title and participation in the Club World Cup. The American transfer window was closing in April, but the club felt Wissam’s impact was too valuable to lose mid-season.
Ramadan also highlighted the pursuit of Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan, noting a scout was sent to Hungary to assess the Ferencvaros star. He clarified there were no official offers for Imam Ashour and revealed efforts to bring in Swiss winger Derek Kutesa fell through.
The former director confirmed the contract renewals of Mohamed El Shenawy and Yasser Ibrahim and noted Akram Tawfiq’s agreement with Al-Shamal. Ramadan ended by reflecting on his resignation, the El Kahba disciplinary issue, and fan behavior after Sundowns.
