Mohamed Ouahbi set for European tour to finalise Morocco’s World Cup squad
Mohamed Ouahbi is set to embark on a crucial European tour that could determine the future of Imran Louza in the national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to the daily newspaper “Al-Sabah,” Ouahbi plans to visit England, France, Spain, and other key European footballing nations to monitor the form and fitness of Moroccan professionals before announcing the final squad.
A central focus of the tour will be Louza, the talented Watford midfielder who has steadily emerged as a standout performer in the English Championship.
Louza’s exclusion from the national team since Walid Regragui took charge four years ago has been a source of debate among fans and analysts, despite the midfielder’s consistently impressive performances. Ouahbi is determined to assess Louza firsthand and address the ongoing controversy surrounding his potential selection.
Alongside Louza, Ouahbi will also evaluate promising talents such as Othman Maamma, who recently earned the Best Player award at the U-20 World Cup, as well as other professionals, including Noussair Mazraoui, Issa Diop, Chadi Riad, Amine Adli, and Chemseddine Talbi.
According to the report, Ouahbi’s evaluations aim to identify players capable of linking play and providing balance in midfield, a role that has become increasingly vital due to injuries affecting key performers such as Sofyan Amrabat and Oussama Targaline.
The European tour underscores Ouahbi’s commitment to finalising a squad that is technically sound, physically ready, and tactically balanced, ensuring Morocco fields its strongest possible team at the World Cup finals.
Louza’s performances during this period may ultimately determine whether he finally secures a place in the “Lions” squad, ending years of debate over his international future.
