Mohamed Magdy Afsha found himself at the center of attention after Al Ahly’s 1-0 win over Ceramica Cleopatra in the Egyptian Premier League on Friday night.

While Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet’s early strike secured the points, it was Afsha’s actions after the final whistle that sparked tension with team captain Mohamed El Shenawy.

When Al Ahly players gathered to salute their fans at Cairo Stadium, Afsha chose not to join them, instead holding on to the shirt of Ceramica’s Amr El Sulaya. El Shenawy urged him to join the group, but Afsha declined, leaving the captain visibly upset. The moment became more awkward when Trezeguet went alone to greet the fans, which only deepened El Shenawy’s frustration before he walked straight to the locker room.

Trezeguet later played down the incident, praising the team’s effort and dedicating his Man of the Match award to the Al Ahly supporters.

“I’m happy with the joy of the Al-Ahly fans. They’re always the ones who deserve my credit,” he said, stressing that the supporters remain his greatest motivation.
