Mohamed Koffi warns of no mistakes as Burkina Faso prepare for Egypt showdown

Burkina Faso manager Mohamed Koffi believes next Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Egypt in Ouagadougou will be one of the toughest tests in Group A.

For the former Zamalek and Al Masry defender, the game carries extra meaning, as it pits his Stallions against the group leaders in a direct battle for qualification.

Koffi knows Egypt’s strength well and has singled out Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush and Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” as the most dangerous threats. With both teams at the top of the group, he insists there can be no mistakes if Burkina Faso want to stay in contention.

The coach praised Egypt boss Hossam Hassan, calling him a great player turned great coach, and believes his duel with Brama Traoré will be decided by who follows their manager’s instructions more closely.

Koffi also expressed deep gratitude to Egypt, the country where he spent much of his career. Winning the 2014-2015 league and cup double with Zamalek.

“The match will be at a high level and will not be easy for either side. Egypt leads the group and we are second. Our team is fully prepared for this encounter and is striving to achieve a positive result. Both teams are mentally preparing well for this match, and there is no room for error for either team,” he said.

“Hossam Hassan was a great player, and now he’s a great coach. I admire him and I love his personality and enthusiasm. I believe the tactical confrontation on the pitch between Hossam Hassan and Brama Traoré will be very intense. Victory will be for whoever follows their coach’s instructions.

“The competition is now limited to us and the Pharaohs to qualify for the World Cup finals in this group. This gives Tuesday’s match more strength and competition.

“I owe my entire professional career to Egypt, which has made me proud of myself. I will never stop thanking the Egyptians and loving this beautiful country (the Mother of the World).

“I have many beautiful memories in Egypt. I played for Petrojet, Al Masry, Smouha, Al Ahly Bank, and Zamalek, but I especially remember my time with Zamalek during the 2014-2015 season, when I won the league and Egypt Cup with all my heart. I have wonderful memories with my Egyptian friends.”
