Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed Ibrahim has thanked the club’s supporters after their 30-25 victory over Zamalek secured the bronze medal at the Handball Club World Cup in Egypt.
Ibrahim posted his message on Facebook following the third-place match, praising the fans for their support throughout the tournament.
“Amid the celebrations, I want to thank those who stood behind us from the first day and waited five hours before the bronze-medal match,” he wrote.
“What they did in the stands was an honour in front of the whole world. No matter how much I speak about them, I will never be able to give them their full due.
“Congratulations to stand number one in Egypt.”
The result gave Al Ahly their second bronze medal in the Handball Club World Cup, following their previous success in 2024 when they defeated Barcelona.
Al Ahly became the first non-European team to beat Barcelona in the competition at that time.
The club’s best performance in the tournament remains their silver medal in 2007.
Ibrahim played a key role in the victory over Zamalek, saving six of the 19 shots directed at his goal in the bronze-medal match.
