Zamalek SC endured a frustrating 2-2 draw against El Geish on the 6th matchday of the Egyptian Premier League, but the real concern came with an injury to left winger Mohamed Hamdy.
The 21-year-old, who had only recently been introduced in the 60th minute, was forced off the pitch in the 80th minute following a clash with the El Geish goalkeeper.
Mohamed Hamdy, who had been looking to build his match fitness, was rushed to the hospital for immediate care. Medical professionals have decided to keep him under observation, with surgery potentially required to address the issue. The setback means that Hamdy will be sidelined for an extended period, further limiting his already minimal playing time this season—just 80 minutes across six matches.
As Zamalek continues their campaign, sitting in second place with 11 points, they’ll hope for Mohamed Hamdy’s swift recovery and eventual return to action.
Zamalek will play Al Ittihad Alexandria in the Egyptian Premier League on December 29th.
