Mohamed Halim said he was disappointed with Seka El Hadid’s performance after their 3-0 defeat by Al Ahly in the last 32 of the Egypt Cup.
The match was played at Cairo International Stadium, with Al Ahly securing a comfortable victory to progress to the next round.
“I had hoped my team would perform better against Al Ahly,” Halim said at his post-match news conference. “I was worried about the game because it could have a negative effect on the players’ morale ahead of our next league match, but I hope we can win that fixture.”
Halim acknowledged that his side improved after the interval, saying a tactical change helped them create more opportunities.
“We played better in the second half and created more chances after changing our style of play,” he added.
Seka El Hadid struggled from the start, with Halim pointing to Al Ahly’s pressure and his players’ misplaced passes as key factors in their slow opening.
“Our start to the match was not successful at all because of Al Ahly’s pressure on us and the wrong passes,” he said. “The first goal, after 20 minutes, affected us negatively, but we managed to improve things a little.”
Al Ahly’s goals were scored by Ahmed Sayed “Zizo”, who struck twice, and Omar El Saai.
Al Ahly will face the winner of the match involving Montakhab El Suez-Petrojet and Delphi in the last 16.
