In an unexpected turn during Al Jazira’s 1-0 loss to Baniyas in the UAE Pro League, Mohamed Elneny found himself at the center of a rare confrontation with Baniyas’ head coach Daniel Isăilă.
The game at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, which saw Lazar Marković’s 12th-minute goal securing the win for Baniyas, was marred by an unusual clash between Elneny and Isăilă. The incident took place in the 20th minute when Elneny stepped off the pitch to retrieve the ball for a throw-in. Although the cameras did not capture the full cause of the confrontation, both men were seen arguing before the situation escalated.
Intervention from multiple individuals quickly diffused the situation, and both Elneny and Isăilă were booked with yellow cards.
Since joining Al Jazira from Arsenal at the start of the season, Elneny has played 15 matches, contributing one goal and one assist. His fiery moment in this match, however, is likely to be one of the standout memories of the game.
