Mohamed Elneny breaks silence on Moroccan wife divorce rumors

Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny, now with Al Jazira in the UAE, has moved to end days of speculation over his private life after reports claimed he had divorced his Moroccan second wife, Hanan.

The rumors intensified when Elneny unfollowed her on Instagram, while she in turn deleted all photos of them together from her account.

Their relationship first became public in July 2025, when Hanan, a Moroccan blogger, shared a picture with Elneny, initially hiding his face before their marriage was later confirmed. She then posted wedding photos in August 2025, revealing that the ceremony had actually taken place months earlier, in October 2024, with Elneny wearing traditional Moroccan dress.

As talk of a split spread across social media, Elneny issued a firm message on Instagram to defend his family and deny any separation. He wrote: “With your permission, I hope no one will talk about my wife and the mother of my son, or about my son. I am very proud of her and very proud of my son, and no divorce has taken place between us. Please, everyone, enough talk, and let everyone mind their own business and leave other people’s business alone.”
