Mohamed El Sayed returns to Zamalek training ahead of Abu Qir Fertilizers match

Mohamed El Sayed has returned to Zamalek’s team training after recovering from an ankle injury, boosting the club’s preparations for Tuesday’s Egyptian Premier League meeting with Abu Qir Fertilizers.

The midfielder took part in Sunday’s full squad session at the auxiliary pitch at Cairo International Stadium after being cleared to resume training.

Zamalek will host Abu Qir Fertilizers at Cairo International Stadium at 20:00 local time on Tuesday in the fourth round of the Egyptian Premier League.

El Sayed had been working his way back to fitness after suffering a twisted ankle during the match involving Suez National and Petrojet. The injury prevented him from joining Zamalek’s preparations for their opening African Champions League qualifying fixture.

He subsequently missed Zamalek’s 2-1 victory over AS Port, the champions of Djibouti, in the first leg of the first preliminary round of the African Champions League.

His return to collective training comes after the club confirmed that he had recovered sufficiently to participate with his team-mates. The midfielder’s involvement provides Zamalek with another option before the visit of Abu Qir Fertilizers in the league.

El Sayed has already contributed directly to two of Zamalek’s recent victories. He scored in the win over Suez National and Petrojet, before setting up a goal in the victory against National Bank of Egypt.

Sunday’s session at the auxiliary pitch at Cairo International Stadium was therefore the midfielder’s first return to group work since the ankle problem. His availability will be assessed as Zamalek complete their preparations for Tuesday evening’s fixture.

The match against Abu Qir Fertilizers will be Zamalek’s fourth game of the Egyptian Premier League campaign. It will also be played between the club’s African Champions League commitments, following the first-leg success against AS Port.

Zamalek’s 2-1 victory in that match came without El Sayed, who was absent after sustaining the injury. The club’s latest training update confirmed that he has now resumed work alongside the squad ahead of the next league fixture.
