Mohamed Amine Katiba abandons Al Nasr move and heads for Villarreal

Mohamed Amine Katiba has pulled out of a proposed move to Al Nasr at the last minute and is now expected to join Spanish side Villarreal.

The Moroccan midfielder had been close to completing a transfer to the United Arab Emirates after reaching an advanced stage of negotiations with Al Nasr. Most of the details surrounding his move had already been agreed, with the player expected to travel to the Emirates to complete the process.

Agent Ahmed Chlaida had played a leading role in negotiations with the Emirati club and had finalized the main terms of the agreement.

A four year contract had been agreed between Katiba and Al Nasr, while the financial terms of the proposed deal had also been settled. With the key elements in place, the move appeared to be heading towards completion.

However, Katiba did not travel to the Emirates to finalize the transfer or sign the contract, bringing an unexpected end to negotiations that had progressed significantly.

The latest development has reportedly caused frustration for Chlaida, who had invested considerable effort in discussions with Al Nasr and helped take the negotiations to an advanced stage.

According to the supplied report, the intermediary strongly condemned Katiba’s decision and described the player’s behaviour as “childish.”

The situation has also brought back memories of another move involving Katiba that collapsed at the final stage.

The Moroccan midfielder had previously been close to joining Raja Casablanca, with the club making significant progress during negotiations. Several details of the proposed agreement had been discussed as the two sides moved towards completing the transfer.

That move also failed to materialise after Katiba did not attend a scheduled meeting intended to finalize his switch to the Casablanca club.

The latest development means the Al Nasr negotiations have now ended despite the agreement reaching an advanced stage.

Katiba is instead expected to continue his career in Spain, with Villarreal now set to be his next destination.

His decision to change direction at the final stage represents another unexpected development in a transfer saga that has already included a failed move to Raja Casablanca.
