Wydad Athletic Club head coach, Mohamed Amine Benhachem, is expected to miss their final group game on Thursday.
The Moroccan side who has been eliminated from the ongoing 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, will wrap up their group games on Thursday against Al Ain.
Wydad failed to win their first two games against Manchester City and Juventus.
The woes of the side were compounded after the Moroccan tactician got involved in the accident in Washington.
Although Benhachem has since been discharged from the hospital, he has not yet been medically cleared to rejoin the team on the training ground. Assistant coach Ibrahim Al-Naqqash has been leading preparations in his absence.
However, reports suggest that Benhachem is eager to be on the bench for the match against Al Ain with the hope of securing a win.
However, Wydad’s management has urged him to prioritise his recovery and allow his assistants to take charge for the game.
A final decision will hinge on a key meeting between Benhachem and the club’s medical team, who will assess whether he is fit enough to participate.
