The season has come to a premature end for Mohamed Amine Aoudia. Suffering from a ruptured cruciate ligament in one knee, the Algerian international striker, who plays for Dynamo Dresden, will be sidelined from the pitches of the German 2nd division for several months. This unfortunate development is a significant setback for the Fennec, and it is likely that he will miss the upcoming World Cup.
Adding to his misfortune, Aoudia was also excluded from the list of players called up by Vahid Halilhodzic for the Algeria – Slovenia friendly match. His return to action, which was anticipated after serving a suspension, was derailed by the injury sustained during a training session with Dynamo Dresden. The 26-year-old Algerian will undergo surgery in the coming days, effectively ending his season.
Despite his setbacks, Aoudia had been striving to reclaim his place within the Algerian national team, known as the Greens, ahead of the Brazilian World Cup. With seven goals to his name this season in Bundesliga 2, his absence will be keenly felt. Aoudia made his debut for the Greens on November 17, 2010, but has not featured in an official match since December 20.
