Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane remains an Al Ahly player after negotiations over a proposed move to Qatar reportedly came to a halt, although the Tunisian midfielder could still leave if the Egyptian club receives a suitable offer.

Journalist Amir Hisham said Al Shamal had been close to completing a deal for the 25-year-old during the current transfer window.

However, despite reaching an agreement with the player over personal terms, discussions between the clubs did not progress to completion.

As a result, Ben Romdhane continues to be part of Al Ahly’s squad as preparations for the new season continue.

The midfielder is currently training with the first team under head coach Hussein Ammouta, while uncertainty over his long-term future remains.

Qatar move fails to materialise

Ben Romdhane had been strongly linked with a transfer to Al Shamal, with reports suggesting the Qatari club had made significant progress in negotiations.

According to Amir Hisham, the player had already agreed personal terms with Al Shamal, indicating that a transfer appeared close.

However, the proposed move ultimately stalled before an agreement could be completed between the clubs.

The breakdown in negotiations means Ben Romdhane has remained with Al Ahly, despite speculation over a possible departure.

For now, there has been no official confirmation that discussions will resume.

Future depends on a suitable offer

Although the Qatari move has been put on hold, the possibility of Ben Romdhane leaving this summer has not been ruled out.

Amir Hisham explained that Al Ahly would carefully consider any serious offer that arrives for the Tunisia international.

That means the midfielder’s future remains open, even though he continues to prepare for the new campaign with his current club.

At this stage, no decision has been taken regarding a transfer, and there is no indication that Al Ahly are actively pushing for his departure.

Instead, any future move will depend on whether another club submits an offer that satisfies the Egyptian champions.

Midfielder remains part of Ammouta’s plans

While speculation continues away from the pitch, Ben Romdhane remains fully involved in Al Ahly’s preparations.

The midfielder has been taking part in group training sessions under Hussein Ammouta as the squad prepares for the upcoming season.

His continued presence in training suggests he remains available for selection unless a transfer agreement is eventually reached.

With the Al Shamal negotiations no longer progressing, Ben Romdhane’s immediate focus remains on Al Ahly.

Transfer situation remains unresolved

The latest developments leave Ben Romdhane’s future uncertain rather than settled.

Although interest from Qatar demonstrated there is demand for the midfielder, no deal has been completed and no departure has been confirmed.

Should another club present a serious proposal, Al Ahly are expected to examine it before making a final decision.

Until then, Ben Romdhane remains an Al Ahly player and continues training with the first team as preparations for the new season gather pace.
