According to a poll conducted by the Arab sports channel Al Jazeera, Mohamed Aboutrika, the Egyptian international from Al Ahly, was named the best Arab footballer of the year 2012. The midfielder secured 46.71% of the votes from internet users participating in the survey.
Sofiane Feghouli, the Algerian international playing for Valencia FC, was awarded the second-best Arab footballer of the year, receiving 36.1% of the votes. The third position went to Moroccan international Younes Belhanda of Montpellier, with 7.32% of the votes.
In the coaching category, Hossam Al Badry, the coach of Al Ahly, was voted the best Arab coach of the year with 33.3% of the votes. Tunisian Nabil Maâloul (ES Tunis) secured the second position with 26.5%, while Moroccan coach Rachid Taoussi finished third with 19.15%.
