Moghreb Tetouan tighten grip on summit as Botola Pro 2 title and relegation battles heat up

Moghreb Atlético Tétouan reinforced their status as promotion favourites after grinding out a crucial 1-0 home win over Ittihad Abi Jaad to extend their lead at the top of the Botola 2.

Nicknamed the “White Dove,” Tetouan moved to 30 points, amassed from seven victories and just two defeats, underlining both their technical discipline and physical consistency as the second half of the season gets underway. Backed by passionate home support, the northern side continue to send a strong message to their challengers that they are firmly on course for a return to the top flight.

Hot on their heels are Wydad Temara, who sit just one point behind on 29. They secured an impressive 2-1 away triumph over Chabab Ben Guerir, maintaining pressure at the summit and keeping the promotion race finely poised.

Elsewhere, Chabab Al Massira were held to a 1-1 draw on the road by Union Islamique d’Oujda — a result that prevents them from closing the gap and ensures the title race remains wide open.

One of the biggest shocks of the round came at the bottom of the table, where struggling Racing Athletic Club produced a stunning 3-0 victory over fourth-placed Mouloudia Oujda. The emphatic win breathes life into their survival hopes and injects fresh tension into the relegation battle.

Mid-table encounters were equally competitive. Ittihad Amal Tiznit and Chabab Mohammedia shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, while Chabab Salmi secured a valuable 2-1 away victory against Stade Marocain.

Further down the standings, Raja Beni Mellal claimed a narrow but vital 1-0 win over KAC Kénitra, a result that could prove pivotal as they attempt to climb out of danger in the second half of the campaign.

The round concluded on Sunday evening with Wydad Fès edging past Chabab Atlas Khenifra 1-0 at home.

As the second half of the Botola 2 season unfolds, the race for promotion remains fiercely contested at the top, while the struggle to avoid relegation intensifies — promising an enthralling run-in on both fronts.
