Moghreb Tetouan open talks to sign veteran Morocco midfielder Fayçal Fajr

Moroccan outfit Moghreb Tetouan have opened talks to sign veteran midfielder Fayçal Fajr in the current summer transfer window.

As per reports, newly elected Moghreb Tetouan president Mohamed Jedaouni has made direct contact with the 38-year-old midfielder to discuss the possibility of bringing him to the club ahead of the new season.

Fajr is reportedly enthusiastic about the proposal and keen to return to Morocco to begin a new chapter in the Botola Pro, having spent the majority of his professional career playing abroad.

However, negotiations are still at an early stage, with no agreement yet reached between the two parties. Further discussions are expected in the coming hours as both sides assess the possibility of reaching an agreement.

A move to Moghreb Tetouan would represent a new experience for Fajr, who has never played in the Moroccan top flight despite his long and distinguished career in Europe and the Gulf.

Fajr began his professional career in France with FC Fréjus Saint-Raphaël before joining Stade Malherbe Caen. He subsequently moved to Spain, where he featured for Elche, Deportivo La Coruña and Getafe.

The Moroccan midfielder later returned to Caen before moving abroad again, joining Turkish side Sivasspor. During his time in Turkey, he helped the club win the Turkish Cup.

Fajr then continued his career in Saudi Arabia, representing Al-Wahda and Al-Taawoun before most recently playing for Al-Jubail. He is now a free agent following the end of his latest spell.

Despite turning 38, Fajr remains determined to continue his playing career and has maintained his fitness through regular specialised training sessions, some of which he shares on his official Instagram account.

If an agreement is reached, Fajr would bring considerable experience and leadership to the Moghreb Tetouan squad while becoming one of the latest Moroccan internationals to return to the Botola Pro after spending years playing abroad.

For Moghreb Tetouan, securing a player with Fajr’s experience could also be a major statement of intent under new president Mohamed Jedaouni as the club prepares for the upcoming campaign.
