Morocco: Moghreb Tetouan frustrate Renaissance Berkane in season opener

Moghreb Tétouan held last season’s Botola Pro runners-up Renaissance Berkane to a goalless draw in the opening round of the Moroccan top flight.

The two sides could not find a breakthrough during 96 minutes at the Saniat Rmel Stadium in Tétouan, producing the first 0-0 draw of the new Botola Pro campaign.

For newly promoted Moghreb Tétouan, the point represents a positive start against a Berkane side that finished second in the Moroccan league last season.

Tetouan face registration setback

Moghreb Tétouan went into the match without their new signings after the club was unable to register the players before the game.

The registration restriction meant the newly promoted side had to rely on its available squad against one of the strongest teams in the Moroccan top flight.

Despite that disadvantage, Moghreb Tétouan managed to keep Renaissance Berkane from finding the net and secured a valuable point in their return to the Botola Pro.

Botola Pro opening round continues

The first round of the Moroccan championship concludes on Sunday evening with two more fixtures.

Moroccan champions MAS Fes will face Renaissance Zemamra at 18:00, while Kawkab Marrakech will take on Hassania Agadir at 20:00.
