Mofokeng is ‘an example to follow’ after Europa League goal, says Ouaddou

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has praised Relebohile Mofokeng after the midfielder scored on his UEFA Europa League debut for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Mofokeng opened the scoring in a 3-0 victory away to Viktoria Plzen, marking an impressive first appearance in the competition.

The goal was also his fourth in only eight appearances for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise since joining the Belgian club. Ouaddou said he was pleased to see Mofokeng continuing to represent Orlando Pirates positively in Europe.

“Orlando Pirates is building stories since many, many years now, since decades and credit has to be given to the club,” he said on SuperSport TV.

“But coming back to Rele Mofokeng, I have a big heart with my players.

“He’s the example we have to follow. If we are ambitious, this boy was very ambitious. All that he was doing in our team it was all the time forward.

“So I’m happy for him, I hope he’s going to continue. It’s very good for the club as well, a very good image of the brand Orlando Pirates in Europe.”
