Modou Lamin Marong: Gambian forward at STK Samorin linked with move to Hungarys ETO FC

Modou Lamin Marong, the Gambian centre-forward currently at STK Samorin, is being linked with a move to Hungarian top-flight side ETO FC in the NB I.

The 20-year-old, who stands at 1.95m and plays predominantly as a central striker, is under contract with the Slovak II. Liga club until 30 June 2027 but has attracted attention after an encouraging campaign in Slovakia. Marong has made 27 league appearances for Samorin this season, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists, a return that has helped push him into the sights of clubs in stronger competitions.

ETO FC, who compete in Hungarys NB I, are monitoring attacking options ahead of the new campaign and view Marong as a potential addition to their forward line. His current market valuation is around 125,000, which would make him a relatively affordable target for a top-division Hungarian club looking to add height and presence in attack.

Marong joined STK Samorin on a permanent deal in January 2026 after an initial loan spell from Nyiregyhaza, having previously spent time with Steve Biko FC and Interclube at youth level. He has already had a brief taste of Hungarian football, making three NB I appearances and featuring in the Magyar Kupa during his stint with Nyiregyhaza, experience that may encourage ETO FC to move for him.

With two years remaining on his deal in Slovakia, Samorin are under no immediate pressure to sell, and any approach from ETO FC would need to reflect his contractual situation as well as his growing influence in the II. Liga.
