Modern Sport has taken another step in the transfer market, securing young defender Mustafa Motawa on a five-year deal from El Entag El Harby.
The 21-year-old becomes the latest addition to coach Magdy Abdel-Ati’s reshaped Egyptian Premier League squad.
What makes the signing stand out isn’t just Motawa’s talent, he hasn’t yet played in the Egyptian top flight, but his uncanny resemblance to Real Madrid star Rodrygo.
The club didn’t shy away from the comparison, playfully referencing an old Egyptian proverb on social media: “There are 40 people who look alike… Rodrigo is a conformist.”
Motawa joins a flurry of fresh faces at Modern Sport. The club recently landed veteran shot-stopper Mohamed Abou Gabal, striker Godwin Cheika from Tala’ea El Gaish, and Mahmoud Mamdouh of Haras El Hodoud.
Their midfield has also gained strength with Petrojet’s Rashad El-Metwaly, Algerian Adam Rejem, and Tunisian Ahmed Mazhoud, while Ismaily pair Emad Hamdy and goalkeeper Kamal El-Sayed round out the wave of reinforcements.
