Major League Soccer expansion side San Diego FC have bolstered its roster with the signing of Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Boateng from the New England Revolution.
The deal, worth $200,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM), will see Boateng secure a guaranteed contract through the 2025 MLS season.
At 30 years old, Boateng brings a wealth of experience to the San Diego squad.
A product of Ghana’s prestigious Right to Dream Academy, Boateng has racked up 219 MLS appearances, including 106 starts. Throughout his nine-season MLS career, he has contributed 19 goals and 27 assists.
Boateng’s MLS journey has taken him through stints with the LA Galaxy, D.C. United, Columbus Crew, and New England Revolution.
Since joining New England in 2021 as a free agent, Boateng made 89 appearances (36 starts), scoring eight goals and adding 12 assists.
He was a key contributor to the Revolution’s 2021 Supporters’ Shield-winning campaign, netting two goals and registering four assists.
Before his time in New England, Boateng played an instrumental role in helping Columbus Crew win the 2020 MLS Cup. He began his professional career with LA Galaxy following a standout collegiate career at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
With his vast domestic and international experience, Boateng adds depth and quality to San Diego FC’s roster as the expansion club prepares for its inaugural MLS season.
