Werder Bremen defender Mitchell Weiser scored his first goal of the season in a 1-1 draw against Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena on Sunday. The equaliser came at a crucial moment, just before the halftime whistle, leveling the score after Wolfsburg had taken an early lead on the seventh day of Bundesliga action.

Weiser, who recently switched allegiance to represent Algeria internationally, found the back of the net with a well-placed header.

The goal, assisted by a precise cross from Marvin Ducksch, came in the 45th minute of added time (45+4).

His header left Wolfsburg goalkeeper no chance, bringing Werder Bremen back into the game after trailing 1-0.

This goal added to Weiser’s impressive start to the season, as he has already contributed three assists, making him involved in four goals for his side so far.

The German-born defender’s offensive presence has been a standout feature in Werder Bremen’s campaign, showcasing his versatility on the field.

The match was also notable for the encounter between two Algerian players on opposite sides.

Mitchell Weiser, a recent addition to Algeria’s national team setup, came up against Wolfsburg’s Mohamed Amine Amoura.

However, while Weiser made his mark on the game, Amoura struggled to impose himself.

The Wolfsburg winger showed flashes of brilliance but was largely quiet throughout the first half, contributing to a few attacking moves without creating any clear-cut chances.

Despite Amoura’s attempts to spark Wolfsburg’s attack, it was Weiser who took the upper hand in the duel between the two Algerians, leaving his imprint on the match with his timely equaliser.

Amoura’s involvement remained limited to a few bursts of speed, but he failed to convert those moments into significant opportunities for his team.

As the Bundesliga season progresses, Weiser’s form will be a crucial asset for Werder Bremen, who are looking to improve their standing.

His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively is becoming increasingly important for his club, while his international commitments with Algeria add a new dimension to his career.

On the other hand, Amoura will aim to rediscover his form as Wolfsburg seek to climb the table.

Mitchell Weiser’s header not only secured a valuable point for Werder Bremen but also marked an important personal milestone in his season, as he continues to be a key figure for his club.
