Mimoun Mokhtari ends Ittihad Touarga’s year-long winless run with dramatic victory
Mimoun Mokhtari made an immediate impact as he guided Ittihad Touarga to a long-awaited victory, ending a year-long drought with a dramatic 2-1 win over Olympique Dcheira.
The clash, played at the Grand Stadium in Agadir, formed part of the 17th round of the Botola Pro Inwi. The home side struck first through Ibrahim Amzili early in the second half, putting Olympique Dcheira ahead in the 47th minute.
Touarga, however, showed resilience late in the game. Younes Dahmani restored parity in the 83rd minute before Yassine Zaraa completed a remarkable turnaround deep into stoppage time, scoring the winner in the 95th minute.
The victory marked Touarga’s first league triumph in over a year, with their last success dating back to April 23, 2025, when they secured a narrow win away in Tangier. Since then, the club had endured a difficult run of draws and defeats that stretched into the current campaign.
With this result, Ittihad Touarga climb to 14th place with 13 points, while Olympique Dcheira remain 12th with 16 points.
Mokhtari, who recently took over from Abdelwahed Zemrat, is already beginning to steady the team. The new coach has collected four points from his opening two matches, following a draw against Olympique Safi and this crucial win, offering renewed hope for the remainder of the season.
