Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has emphasized the importance of personal development for Bukayo Saka during his injury lay-off, encouraging the young winger to return as “a better person.”
Saka, who was born in England to Nigerian parents, underwent hamstring surgery in December after sustaining an injury in the Gunners’ 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace. He is expected to be out of action until at least March.
Despite his injury, Saka has been present at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, where Arteta has commended his positive demeanor throughout the recovery process.
The manager stressed the significance of using this time for both mental and physical rejuvenation.
“He’s been around a lot. It’s great to have him. There’s always a smile on his face. He’s going through a period that is unknown for him because he has never been injured for such a long time.
“We have discussed the things we can do together and the things he can do to use the time in the right way to make him a better person, to make sure that he spends the time adequately with the opportunity that he has, so that when he comes back he is in the right place,” Arteta has shared.
