Mikaël Silvestre Defends Manchester United’s Philosophy Against Manchester City
Former Manchester United defender Mikaël Silvestre, who retired earlier this year after nearly a decade at Old Trafford, weighed in on the rivalry between the two Manchester clubs.
Silvestre praised United’s approach, emphasizing their commitment to developing young talent rather than buying success. Speaking at a conference organized by his former club, he said:
“They simply bought their titles,” referring to Manchester City.
“United prefers to see its players grow, while City acquires stars and closes the door on its youth system. The Red Devils have more courage. They are a club with a family spirit. The way the Citizens run their club does not make you want to support them.”
Silvestre’s comments highlight the cultural and operational differences he sees between the two clubs.
