Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has highlighted the club’s ambitions following recent record in the South African Premier League.
The Brazilians are closing in on the Premier League following their 3-0 victory over Chippa United on Wednesday.
The win saw Sundowns set a new record, becoming the highest-scoring team in a single South African Premier League season with 57 goals.
Sundowns opened the scoring in the 29th-minute through Iqraam Rayners before Jayden Adams doubled the advantage for the home team.
The host continued their dominance in the match, with Thapelo Maseko cementing the win for his outfit with a strike in the 81st-minute mark.
“Today we talked about brotherhood, we spoke a lot about what’s written on our shirts and what ubuntu means, and these values we hold in the dressing room sustain us. Then it comes from the heart and mind and translates into our football on the pitch. Mamelodi Sundowns are on top of the league standings, accumulating 64 points whiles Orlando Pirates sit second spot with 52 points. It is important to note that the Soweto giants are two matches behind Sundowns and could close the gap if they are able to secure wins in the games.
