Micheal Kyei switches to Al-Etisalat SC after Al-Dhahra spell
Ghana midfielder Micheal Kyei has joined Al-Etisalat SC from Al-Dhahra, completing a move to the Iraqi club on 12 August 2026. The 26-year-old central midfielder leaves Al-Dhahra after less than a year with the Libyan side.
Kyei began his latest spell with Al-Dhahra after joining from Asante Kotoko on 1 October 2025. That move was completed as a free transfer, following his time with the Ghanaian club.
He had joined Asante Kotoko from WAFA SC on 3 September 2023, giving him experience in both Ghanaian and Libyan football before his switch to Al-Etisalat SC. His career record includes 73 appearances in the Premier League, with two goals and one assist, as well as 17 appearances in the Libyan Premier League.
Kyei’s playing position is central midfield, and he is listed as a right-footed player. At 1.74 metres tall, he brings experience of competitive football in more than one domestic league to his new club.
The move gives Kyei a fresh challenge after his season with Al-Dhahra. He had established himself in the Ghanaian game before moving abroad, with his transfer to the Libyan side marking his first recorded move outside Ghana.
Al-Etisalat SC becomes the latest club in a career that has included WAFA SC, Asante Kotoko and Al-Dhahra. Kyei’s personal market value is listed at €100,000, while no transfer fee has been attached to his move.
His most recent recorded league experience came in Libya, where he made 17 appearances. Across the competitions recorded for his career, he has played 90 league matches and scored twice, with both goals coming in the Premier League.
Kyei’s arrival continues his progression through African club football, from his early senior career at WAFA SC to established spells with Asante Kotoko and Al-Dhahra. He now begins his next chapter with Al-Etisalat SC, having completed the move on 12 August 2026.
