Michael Olise draws attention at Oktoberfest with €3,500 Bayern Munich outfit

Michael Olise attracted attention during Bayern Munich’s official visit to Oktoberfest in Munich after completing his traditional Bavarian outfit with an unusual blue woollen hat decorated with a purple cross.

The France forward was wearing a luxury “Chrome Hearts” hat called the “Blue and Purple Cross Patch Cashmere Beanie”. According to German newspaper Bild, the hat is currently valued at about €3,500 online.

Bayern’s players, coaching staff and executives travelled to the Theresienwiese in two buses before making their way to the Kafer tent. While several of the club’s biggest names, including Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane, posed for photographs, Olise adopted a much more low-key approach.

He moved through his team-mates and television cameras before entering the first floor of the beer tent. With his hair pulled back, dark sunglasses covering his eyes and the distinctive blue hat on his head, he was difficult to identify at first.

The appearance reflected Olise’s reserved nature away from the spotlight, despite his outstanding start to the season with Bayern Munich. He has scored 8 goals and provided 4 assists in 7 matches, while also being named man of the match on 4 occasions.

Olise previously declined a media interview after receiving a man-of-the-match award. Following the match against Bodo/Glimt, he instead took part in a silent interview that lasted for more than a minute.

He also avoided the spotlight during a championship reception hosted by Bavarian prime minister Markus Soder. Olise was almost the only player who did not look towards the camera and chose to stand in the back row for the team and coaching staff’s group photograph.

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer joked about the player’s personality, saying: “If he drinks a litre or two of beer, he will certainly relax a little.”

Hainer said Olise was naturally quiet and did not reveal much of his personality in public. The club, he added, had signed him to play football rather than entertain people, although he described the forward as “very friendly” away from the attention.

Olise was not the only Bayern player to make an impression with his appearance. Canada international Alphonso Davies wore reflective sports sunglasses in white and blue, the colours of Bayern Munich.

Davies had been absent from the Canada squad while on honeymoon with his wife, Shian, following their wedding near Paris in July.

Captain Manuel Neuer attended Oktoberfest on his own after the birth of his second child. Ines Sara Laimer, the wife of Konrad Laimer, also attracted attention with her visibly pregnant appearance. The couple are expecting their second child.
