Proud of the success of the first edition of the “Match for Peace,” Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien is planning a second edition of the event. The Real Madrid player announced that the second edition, titled “Essien Game of Hope,” will take place on June 8, 2013, at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana. This time, the event aims to raise funds for five selected associations in Ghana. The match will feature an African selection against a world team. Notable football figures such as Ashley Cole, Freddy Ljunberg, Nigel Di Jong, Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Emmanuel Adebayor, Asamoah Gyan, and Stephen Appiah participated in the inaugural event in 2011, with teams coached by Marcel Desailly and George Weah.
