Michael Chrétien Basser Returns to AS Nancy-Lorraine After Stints Abroad
AS Nancy-Lorraine has confirmed the return of Michael Chrétien Basser to the club, with the Moroccan international signing a one-year contract on Thursday. The 31-year-old marks his return to the club where he spent nine seasons, having previously played for Bursaspor FC in Turkey and RC Strasbourg.
In an exclusive interview with L’Est Républicain, Chrétien Basser spoke fondly of his return to his former club. “I never closed any doors. Anything can happen. I left for four years—three seasons in Turkey and one in Strasbourg. It’s not that long,” he said, reflecting on his time away.
He added, “Coming back to your training club is always easier. I have my roots in Nancy, I know the people, the club. When the coach contacted me, I was happy. Already because a club was interested in me, but even more so because it was AS Nancy-Lorraine.”
Chrétien Basser’s return to AS Nancy-Lorraine is a significant moment in his career. Having made 258 appearances for the club between 2002 and 2011, the midfielder has a long history with Nancy, and he will look to bring his experience and leadership back to the team for the upcoming season.
With his extensive experience both in France and abroad, Chrétien Basser will be a key asset as Nancy looks to strengthen their squad and compete in Ligue 2.
