Metz sporting director: “Oukidja is a crazy goalkeeper with great potential”

Pierre Dierussi, the sporting director of the French club Metz, has praised the retired Algerian international goalkeeper, Alexandre Oukidja, for his outstanding performances with the team this season.

French newspaper “L’Equipe” produced an extensive report highlighting Oukidja’s standout season, noting his impressive save success rate of 70%, a remarkable statistic considering Metz’s defensive approach to minimize damage.

The renowned French newspaper quoted Metz’s sporting director, Pierre Dierussi, describing the former Algerian international goalkeeper as “exceptional” and added, “But he has a quirky mentality. At times, he can be eccentric, almost like a child in a man’s body.”

Dierussi also emphasized that Oukidja does not recognize limits, stating, “We work on ensuring he doesn’t cross certain lines. However, the most important thing for us is that he consistently delivers top performances.”

Furthermore, the sporting director of Metz went even further, suggesting that Oukidja is superior to the Italian international and Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Concluding his comparison, Dierussi stated, “Oukidja possesses immense abilities. For instance, if you compare him to Donnarumma, everyone would choose the latter.

However, I can assure you that the goal scored by Dortmund’s player, Hummels, against Paris, wouldn’t have found its way past Alexandre.”
