Congolese midfielder Meschack Elia Lina has made his debut for Young Boys in the Swiss Super League after receiving provisional authorization from FIFA.
The former TP Mazembe player had been suspended by the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA) in November 2019, receiving a 12-month ban that extended to national teams, CAF, and FIFA, and included a restriction on accessing sports facilities.
Thanks to FIFA’s provisional clearance, Meschack appeared for Young Boys in the 23rd round of the league, a thrilling 3-3 draw against leaders St. Gallen. He is contracted with the Swiss club until 2023 and will now aim to contribute to their push for the top of the table.
