Since his departure from PSG last summer, Mohamed Sissoko has been seeking to relaunch his career in Spain. Despite being close to joining Valladolid in recent hours, the Malian midfielder will ultimately not be signing with the La Liga club. He failed to convince the Valladolid leadership during the final negotiations.
Having arrived in Spain on Monday, the former Valencia, Liverpool, and Juventus Turin player did not pass the medical examination satisfactorily. The main concerns were his overall fitness level, which was deemed insufficient, and particularly his left knee, which has been a source of frequent injuries in recent seasons. Due to these reasons, negotiations between the two parties broke down, leaving Sissoko in search of a new opportunity.
Previously, Sissoko had undergone a two-week trial with Anderlecht in November, but an agreement was not reached. The Belgian club cited differences in the sporting aspects of the project, stating that neither Sissoko’s demands nor his current form were compatible.
