Samuel Eto’o Set for Serie A Return with Sampdoria
As speculated earlier this week, Samuel Eto’o is on the verge of a move to Sampdoria, with reports indicating that an agreement is nearly finalized between the Cameroonian forward and the Italian club.
Currently at Everton, Eto’o is expected to part ways with the Premier League side just six months after joining the Toffees. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 33-year-old striker is close to signing a contract through 2017, with an option for extension until 2018.
A return to Serie A would mark a new chapter in Eto’o’s illustrious career. The four-time African Player of the Year previously enjoyed a successful stint in Italy with Inter Milan from 2009 to 2011, where he won a historic treble under José Mourinho.
Now potentially joining Sampdoria, Eto’o could be setting up for one final challenge before calling time on a remarkable career that has seen him play for clubs like Barcelona, Inter Milan, Chelsea, and Everton, and win nearly everything at both club and international level.
